A SCOTTISH VARIANT OF JADE
Jaud is a luxury knitwear collection designed in Scotland and made between Hong Kong and China in our third generation family-owned factory. ‘Jaud’, meaning a Scottish variant of Jade, seemed a serendipitous choice of name.
Utilising quality dead stock yarn which would otherwise go to waste, our garments are manufactured using age-old techniques that are less common in mainstream fashion due to price sensitivity. All of our pieces are fully fashioned, meaning each panel is made to size, minimising wastage. We produce limited runs of each style, often offering them in several colour options. In addition to stock, we also offer a ‘pre-order’ service on new styles and colour combinations, to reduce wastage by over manufacturing. We will introduce new styles once we have ‘dreamed’ them up, rather than being constrained by the usual buying calendar. We believe in the longevity of our designs and that they can be appreciated across ages, trends and seasons.
We are inspired by the natural world around us and our pictorial jacquard styles usually feature flora and fauna. These designs appear printed but are in fact knitted, each stitch making up a piece of the pattern, like a tapestry, or mosaic tile.
We have been entrusted tenancy of a fragile planet that we must protect, and we endeavour to make conscious choices to reduce our footprint. As such we take great care and time over the design and production of our collections in the hope that you will treasure your investment for years to come, and perhaps even pass it on.
